A Summer Update!

August 6, 2016

This summer has been an eventful adventure so far. Let me refresh your memory because it's been a minute. I left my day job at the family business at the beginning of June. While I really loved working with my dad and my brother, it was the absolute next step on my journey. Leading up to my exit, there was an event that, I feel, was the "a-ha" moment I needed to finally leap without the safety net of that weekly paycheck. My husband fully supported the idea of me taking a rest from working while actively searching for new employment. His support has afforded me the freedom to really dig into this job search while fully enjoying my first summer at home in almost ten years.

I went to Souldoge Medicine Gathering at the end of June. I still have yet to formulate the words that can describe what that is like. Because the group is so intimate, it is true sisterhood in every sense of the word. I've never felt more cared for in a group setting. This gathering is rich in spirit, communication, ritual, and community. Pixie, my teacher - my friend, holds space with love, integrity, warmth, and laughter. She closed this session out with an Angel Wash ... It was, by far, the most sacred few hours of my life outside of giving birth. I'm already looking forward to next year.

{More photos and a video of my time there will be coming soon!}

When I got home, I set my blog and all social media sites to private while I began the job search in earnest. My e-course, The Holy Hush, began on July 1st and I gave the women who gathered with me all of my attention. This session was so, so good because I could do the work {my work} with complete clarity. I had many epiphanies ... many of them. Isn't that was the journey is about? The discoveries, the epiphanies, walking with our shadows and our light. I met myself at a deeper layer than ever before.

Each morning I begin my day with coffee. I light a little piece of my Peruvian Palo Santo and I throw down 2 cards from the Wild Unknown Animal Spirit deck ... The Path / The Obstacle ... for a bit of guidance. I then noodle around on some job search sites and send my resume out to at least 3 people. After I pay a few bills and shower, it's time to get out and about either working in my garden or running errands.

I love the slower pace of life these days. I'm savoring these moments and making the best of them because I know I am just turning a corner to an entirely different way of living and working. One big blessing has been a reigniting of my creative fire ... Oooh I have been painting for fun and taking loads of photos just for the love of it. And? Before I do anything these days, I ask myself "would I normally say no to this"? If so, I do it. Just because.

And then there is the water. It is the element I am most drawn to. We go to the water when we are feeling too hot, too weepy, too needy, just too much. And it soothes us. It soothes us.

I don't know if my feed is still the same, but if you want to add me to your reader, do so by clicking here.
