Teaching a Workshop

August 8, 2016

When I was asked to teach a workshop at Soulodge Medicine Gathering, my first reaction was to say "no" - which is why I said yes on the spot. I was asked so far in advance of the retreat, I figured I had plenty of time to put together a 3 hour workshop on blending perfume oils. #noprobs!

I literally spent months thinking to myself "Ok, how am I going to do this?"

Months. That was totally a lesson in how to drive myself crazy.

{Really, women. Why do we do this to ourselves?}

The truth is I have been blending oils for FUN and the pure joy of it for the last couple of years. I decided to embrace this opportunity and treat the women as if they were coming to my house to make oils.

Which is not to say that I wasn't nervous. OMG, the first 15 minutes of me talking? I felt weird & awkward and I'm sure that came across until I kinda melted into a place of feeling confident in doing what I do. Then it was awesome and comfortable and a LOT of fun.

The ladies were amazing. They knew it was my first time and they were so kind about that. I encouraged them to sample, test, and play until they found a combination of oils that was a YES. This is the part of the workshop that cannot be taught. Scent is intimate, personal. I was blown away by some of the blends they created.

Everyone walked away with 2 anointing oils and 1 room cleaning mist all enhanced with energy boosting crystals. It was a memorable experience, one I will treasure always. I'm glad I said yes. I'm humbled to have had the opportunity. It was everything.
