An Invitation to Play
The colors of autumn are beginning to bloom and blossom, putting on a delightful show before everything begins to wilt. Oh yes, we do get to live in the vibrancy of the season for a while before it all fades away. And if you love photography, this is most certainly an awesome time to take photos.
I'm writing down some thoughts that are beginning to form a shape. What's coming to life is a story about how we survive through big things. Obviously, this is what I am living right now and truth be told, I'm quite shocked at how I am actually getting through it. (catch up here).
I love how this time of the year feels quiet and dark. It feels like all the parts of me that hide in the sun are invited to come out and play. I'm in a group text with a wild bunch of witchy women who are dressing up and going to a witches high tea ... and it inspired me to stop believing untrue stories and create my own realm of play. Because, why not?
This week (because let's be honest, things here are changing on the daily), I'm really inspired by the glittery show nature is putting on . . . by sitting down to knit, creating perfumes, and writing . . . by music (her and her) . . . and sometimes, just by laying down on my bed, allowing myself to feel the enormity of all my feels, and then letting them go because they are too much to bear for too long of a time. Doing this may sound depressing, but it's not . . . This, for me, creates a space for my emotions to flow in and out, leaving no room for avoidance. And I decided yesterday that I need a massage to release the energy my body is holding onto.
Something funny you don't know that I started doing ... videos for my tumblr account. Omg. My sister is on tumblr and connected to a community that makes 1 take videos on Wednesdays. Like, 1 take with no edits or do-overs. If it's good, great! If it bombs, it bombs.. who cares. Here is my tumblr link (I hardly post) and here is my video from yesterday. (Oh, the braces and bad angles ... be kind.)
