Twas the post before Christmas

I wish I had a more accurate way of sharing what is happening in my world. There are no photos. My camera battery is dead and my phone doesn't hold a clue. There has been a flurry of activity here since last week. We had family and friends come for visits to eat and make merry with us. No photos. The me of yesteryear would sit in serious judgement of me, the no photo taker of today. {My camera battery is charging up as I type this.}

Here's what's been happening since my last post (and to follow, a few of my resolutions):

- I created a new perfume oil for the winter season. It is currently available in my shop. It's called Winter Night and if you love notes of Patchouli, Sandalwood, Cedar, Vetiver, and Lotus, you may just fall in love with this blend. (Like Stephanie did).

- I made presents for my friends and sent them out into the world. Friends received and love what I made. Increased a desire to craft more things for fun and for giving away.

- It snowed! My husband cannot shovel and I couldn't get my new snow plower started so we didn't shovel our driveway! What a mess. Today it's raining and the icy mess is melting. Never again will I make that mistake.

- I made all the cookies. Photos are coming. Chocolate chip (Nestle Tollhouse recipe, never stray!) Sugar cookies (Alton Brown recipe, never stray!) and today I'll make an apple cake for Christmas day dessert.

- My brother got a new puppy. He's a handsome boxer named Bradley Cooper. I call him Pooper Cooper. He's such a good boy. We have fallen so madly in love with him.

- I have to go food shopping. I hate that I left it for the last minute.

- Our Christmas will be small and quiet with some visitors later in the evening. I'm making many delicious foods (photos coming).

- On a more serious note, I really miss my mother. I miss her voice, her presence, and her smell. I cry a lot while chopping and prepping foods. This is when I miss her most.

- And finally, we got a call from Zak's cardiologist yesterday. He said there has been mild improvement to his overall heart function since his surgery. This is the best news we could've asked for. We are all sort of living in a PTSD space after his heart surgery . . . but we are also in a space of holding so much gratitude. I don't know how to hold the two feelings, I'm just doing the best that I can.

Resolutions . . . I usually don't make any. This year, I plan on using my camera a LOT more and using my hands to make more things. #makersgonnamake and I love making.

I know for some this will be a somber Christmas. 2016 was a hell of a year with so many losses and tragedies the world over. My hope for you this holiday is that you find some space to breathe, and to stand in your aliveness, and that you get a glimpse of your worthiness, your specialness, and that you come to understand how impactful your presence is to so many people. Yes, you. I do believe whole heartedly that we are in this together.

Merry Christmas. Happy Hanukkah! Happy Kwanzaa! Merry Everything. I love you. xx
