A season of presence
Sometimes, I'll be so busy in a season that I barely get outside to observe and be in the beauty that is cropping up and surrounding me. To practice staying in presence, I must make it a priority to have daily time out in the elements.
This Spring I will take in daily doses of sun and fresh air. I will jar wild growing flora to infuse with oils & spirits. I will watch my peonies emerge from the dirt and burst into an explosion of color. I will observe mama birds resting in nests and mouth feed their babies worms. I will watch the over 20 year old iris plants in my yard produce the most exquisite purple flowers. I will cut back the lily of the valley plants that my dad gave me from his garden because they spread so far and so quickly.
And finally, I will dig the dirt with my hands the way my father does and the way his ancestors did, planting a garden of food that I have started from seed. (A story for another day).
We are all deserving of quiet and peace of mind, even in the most busy seasons. It is so necessary to make time for ourselves.
What will you do to practice presence this season?
